- Buyer's guide to support Jerry's interests! Review by Mark Hines
What a mis-leading book. Jerry knows guns well but chooses to push his favorite guns in a GunDigest book with a Kimber on the front cover to sell it. It was as if Jerry has a contract with Seecamp, NAA, Rohrbough, Beretta, Bersa, and of course the company he was president of, Detonics USA (Pendergrass). Oh, and Jerry's holster company. How unfair to the novice American gunman to have GunDigest sell this as a buyers guide. Seecamp, Rohrbaugh, and especially Detonics are some of the most difficult guns to find as a buyer, why would you spend so much time on guns that aren't available. Detonics is an obsolete gun! The most telling issue with the book is the total lack of pictures and info on Kahr Arms and the lack of mentioning the large number of .45 cal guns that are readily available. How do you leave a company like Kahr out of a buyers guide on concealed carry??? The only way you can is that you have something agaist them...And no Jerry's one paragraph on Kahr does not qualify as info. Jerry gave info and picture on the Autauga .32 a company that went out of business but won't talk about the company that Massad Ayoob said should be given gun of the decade! Kahr. Again it's not just Kahr and no I don't work for or own a Kahr gun. Although Jerry mentions other brands of guns like Sig, Glock and S&W (had to), it was quite obvious where Jerry's loyalties lie. Not a fair book (to the novice public) for GunDigest to publish. Sorry! Just my humble opinion. MarkP.S. A Rohrbaugh 9mm comfortable to shoot??? Maybe for someone like Jerry or me people who have shot guns all of our lives can handle one, but watch the average novice shooter on Youtube shoot one OUCH not comfortable and a gun that 99% of the public can't see before they buy! I know you won't print this but I wanted GunDigest to know that many long time readers find this kind of book unacceptable and dissapointing. Now you can delete!
