Top value articles Review by ATedK

I am very pleased with this book. Massad does an excellent job describing specific models, their history, their use and includes spin off copies.

The descriptions are not the typical glowing magazine reviews. Massad lays the facts on the line as he knows them; hammer bite, slide cuts, sight picture deficiencies pistol accuracy as they perform in his hands both as an accuracy trial or long term range visits. He describes how well the pistols can be carried or not and drops famous names that appreciate and still use the guns.

Mr. Ayoob's writing style is fairly dry but is an enjoyable flowing read drawing a person on.
Several times I thought I would put the book down when I finished a gun review and often found myself several pages into the next pistol's review. The result? Three nights of bedtime reading meant I finished the book and started reading it again.

Ayoob Doesn't Disappoint Review by Doctor Y

First a footnote to a review posted in 2012. The photo quality in this volume is just fine. And the sale price, $18.60, is quite reasonable. Ayoob's writing never disappoints. Enlightening, entertaining, knowledgeable, precise - - - one quickly runs out of adjectives. My only complaint is not a fair one - - - it's with the list of favorites. We all would probably have our own that are not on the list (or in Volume 1) and wish they were. I skipped chapters that didn't interest me (and I won't be specific for fear of igniting an endless debate!), but still came away satisfied. I'm glad I bought it.

Quality disappointment! Handguns of the World Volume 2 Review by Cobalt Blue

I saw this book at Hastings and delayed purchase because the price was high, full retail, and the photo quality was terrible.

Saw the book again at Cabellas and compared the 2 copies they had to offer. No perceptible difference in picture quality.

I caved, and went ahead with the purchase because the writing was good. But oh-boy, what a disappointment photographically.
