Rating A good, basic guide to installing a scope.
However, the instructor is clearly not comfortable with some tools. He has a Wheeler inch/pounds wrench, but fails to use it to properly torque the bases or the rings. Instead, he gets them snug and then goes"a quarter turn more."
He clearly doesn't understand the Leupold Zero Point Boresighter he demonstrates. He ignores the importance of getting the correct bore/axis height and actually says that it doesn't matter where you attach it on the end of the barrel!
There are no good pointers about needing different eye relief for prone vs bench shooters, or how to adjust the eye relief on a scope that barely fits in the rings.
My last point is just a pet peeve, Picatinny and Weaver rails are NOT the same thing, but at the end of the film he says that one base is both.
Those issues aside, his prep work, and ring lapping were good and insightful, however, a lot of the film (like watching him repeatedly take every screw in and out every time) could be cut out to save time.(Posted on 5/2/12)
